Who we are

ELMAG SAFARIS is a safari company based in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. For the purposes of Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, ELMAG SAFARIS is the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can reach us about your data at elmagsafaris@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you use the enquiry form on this website, or contact us by WhatsApp, telephone or email, we may collect:

• your name, email address and phone or WhatsApp number;
• your country of residence;
• your travel dates, number of travellers and children’s ages;
• your destination, accommodation, budget and trip preferences;
• any additional requirements you choose to tell us about, including dietary or accessibility needs;
• the content of your messages to us.

We only ask for what we need in order to plan and quote a trip. You can leave optional fields blank.

Why we use it

• to reply to your enquiry and prepare a quotation or itinerary;
• to make bookings with lodges, camps, parks and transport partners on your instructions;
• to provide the transfer, safari or training-travel service you have booked;
• to keep records of bookings and correspondence;
• to improve this website and understand which pages are used.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary information with the suppliers who deliver your trip — for example a lodge that needs your name and dates, or a driver who needs your flight number and destination. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.

Service providers that may process data on our behalf: our website hosting and form-handling provider, and analytics providers where analytics is enabled.

Form handling

Enquiries sent through the website form are transmitted to our chosen form provider and forwarded to our email inbox. The website itself does not store your enquiry.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses only essential cookies by default. If analytics is enabled, a cookie notice appears and you can accept or decline. Analytics is currently switched off and sets no cookies. If it is switched on in future, a cookie notice will appear first and you can accept or decline.

How long we keep it

Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any booking that follows. We keep booking and financial records for as long as we need them to run your trip and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. To do any of these, contact us using the details below. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya).

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information in transit.

Children

This website is intended for adults making travel enquiries. We ask for children’s ages only to plan a family trip, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
